In the fall of 1973 Capt. Bowell purchased the Marck Twain, a 371-passenger riverboat, that he renamed the Josiah Snelling, after the commandant who designed and built Ft. Snelling in 1820-24. The Snelling, built in 1963 by Tucker Marine Service of Cincinnati, OH, had an overall length of 120 feet with a 31-foot beam. The Snelling was sold in 1997 and now operates as the Barefoot Princess III in Myrtle Beach, SC.

While traveling through Barefoot Landing at Myrtle Beach, we looked up Captain Kirk. He informed me that the Barefoot Princess III had been lengthened and re-sold.
